Why did you choose the Roaring Fork Valley?
“Previously residing in Aspen, I fully embraced the vibrant lifestyle of the Roaring Fork Valley. There, I indulged in backcountry skiing during the snowy winters and spent summers biking and running through scenic trails. Additionally, I was an active member of the Aspen Institute, where I regularly engaged with various speakers and thought leaders.
Now, my life has transitioned to the serene surroundings of Palos Verdes Estates in Lunada Bay, a change brought about by the joys of family life. Here, I've found my paradise just a block away from the beach. The year-round, splendid weather and welcoming community in Southern California offer me a perfect setting. It’s a place where I can still pursue my passions for running and biking throughout the year, now with the added joy of sharing these experiences with my family.”
What does living the “Aspen Idea” mean to you?
“It inspires a holistic approach to life, where intellectual growth, physical well-being, and spiritual fulfillment are in harmonious balance.
Intellectually, this philosophy encourages continuous learning and intellectual curiosity. Whether it's through engaging with diverse perspectives at the Aspen Institute or staying abreast of the latest developments in my field, I strive to keep my mind active and informed.
Physically, living in places like Aspen and now in Palos Verdes Estates, I've always been drawn to the outdoors. Skiing, biking, hiking, and, more recently, running along the beach are not just recreational activities for me; they are integral to maintaining my physical health and a deep sense of connection with nature.
Spiritually, the Aspen Idea reminds me to reflect on my place in the world, the impact of my actions, and the importance of community and family. It encourages a sense of mindfulness and gratitude, aspects that have become even more poignant as I navigate the joys and challenges of parenthood.
In essence, the Aspen Idea doesn't just inspire the way I live; it aligns seamlessly with my life's journey. It's a guiding principle that encourages balance, growth, and a deep appreciation for the interconnectedness of all aspects of life.”
